Swayam Sampurna Panigrahi

Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Fellow (2025-27)


Swayam Sampurna Panigrahi, Ph.D., is a Fulbrighter currently hosted at the Gladstein Family Human Rights Institute, University of Connecticut, where she is pursuing a Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Fellowship since May 2025. Her two-year research lies at the intersection of sustainable supply chains and business and human rights, with a specific focus on labor practices and human rights due diligence in the textile and apparel sectors of India and the United States. Back home, Dr. Panigrahi is an Assistant Professor in the Operations Management department of IFMR Graduate School of Business, Krea University, India.

Dr. Panigrahi earned her Ph.D. in Sustainable Supply Chain Management from Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB), XIM University, Bhubaneswar, India, during which she was awarded the prestigious MSME Fellowship by the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ni-msme), Government of India. Her research interests span social sustainability of supply chains, e-waste management, Industry 4.0 and operations, ESG standards, and the circular economy.

She has received wide scholarly recognition, including two Emerald Literati Awards from Emerald Publishing (UK), with one of her articles on sustainable supply chains being featured in the Top 30 list celebrating 30 years of the Emerald Literati Awards. She also received Best Paper Awards at the WIPRO-XUB Sustainability Summit (2016) and the 105th IEA Annual International Conference (2022). Dr. Panigrahi is an Associate Member of the Business and Human Rights Forum at Columbia University and a certified Pro-Associate-Level ESG Professional. She holds an M.Tech in Production Engineering, where she was a recipient of the TEQIP Fellowship by the Government of India and was adjudged as the department’s Best Postgraduate. She completed a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Panigrahi brings an interdisciplinary approach to her work, combining engineering acumen with policy insight and a commitment to sustainable and ethical business practices.
