Our 4+1 program enables UConn students to complete their bachelor’s degree and MA in human rights in five years. Through the program, students take graduate-level coursework that goes toward their MA at no additional cost to their undergraduate tuition.
ELIGIBILITY: UConn students apply during their junior year and begin taking graduate courses during their senior year.
The two-year path to an MA in human rights is the perfect fit for students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree and are interested in pursuing graduate coursework in the field of human rights.
ELIGIBILITY: Students with a bachelor’s degree from any accredited higher education institution are eligible to apply.
A graduate certificate in human rights offers students the opportunity to develop a competency in human rights theory and practice by taking courses taught by expert faculty from across UConn’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, School of Education, School of Law, and School of Social Work.
ELIGIBILITY: This graduate certificate program is open to any student who is enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Connecticut.
DEADLINE: To graduate at the end of:
Fall semester, submit your application by July 1.
Spring semester, submit your application by December 1.
Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Holocaust and Genocide Studies
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Holocaust and Genocide Studies is designed to offer advanced undergraduate students and both pre-service/in-service educators a wide-ranging and trans-disciplinary foundation in the study of the Holocaust, genocide, and human rights both historically and in our own times.
ELIGIBILITY: The post-baccalaureate program is designed with two constituencies in mind: undergraduates who may choose to take up to six credits towards the post-baccalaureate certificate in their senior year AND in-service teachers who we expect will complete their coursework during annual summer institutes, where two courses from the certificate program will be offered on a rotating basis every summer.
