Samantha Frisk

Graduate Assistant

Samantha Frisk (She/They) is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Connecticut. She is curious about seafaring and coastal communities, especially those connected to the North Atlantic and Wabanaki Confederacy’s Aucocisco Region. That is her home and where she supports a multidisciplinary team that explores the impact of environmental and socio-economic changes in New England and Greenland. Additionally, Samantha investigates how shipboard spaces reproduce social orders informed by racial capitalism. For her M.A. thesis, she will use archived ship logs and crew journals to explore one historical case study.
