Human Rights Institute
Tamara (Tami) Devine is a Ph.D student in Applied Linguistics in the Department of Literature, Cultures, and Languages at UConn. She works in the Human Rights Institute where she advises undergraduate students and runs a service learning/internship course in human rights. As a language educator, she is interested in cultivating competence in intercultural citizenship and working with language teachers to build this component into their teaching. Her research interests include where teacher identity and teacher learning intersect with themes of interculturality and leading culturally responsive classrooms. She has a BA from Bard College and Master’s degrees in French and in TESOL from UMASS Amherst and SIT Graduate Institute. She currently teaches at the UConn American English Language Institute.
