Lanse Minkler and Shawna Sweeney to Publish on Interdependence and Indivisibility in HRQ
Lanse Minkler (ESRG Member) and Shawna Sweeney’s (Affiliate) paper entitled “On the Indivisibility and Interdependence of Basic Rights in Developing Countries” was recently accepted for publication in the Human Rights Quarterly. The paper’s analysis finds a modest correlation between two fundamental basic rights, subsistence and security in developing countries. By constructing a new composite Basic Rights Index, the authors then rank countries based on their simultaneous fulfillment of both kinds of basic rights, and with regression analysis measure the relative importance of various factors (e.g., country income, degree of democracy, legal origins, etc.).
